‘Day of Light’ a 12 Hour, real-time audio-visual experience for Brian Eno‘s Grammy nominated album LUX on Warp Records

In late 2012, Studio Remote & Thomas Traum were commissioned to produce a visual accompaniment to a live stream for Brian Eno’s album ‘LUX’.

Together we created a 12 Hour real-time audio-visual experience with the participation of thousands of Brian Eno fans online. LUX was broadcast ‘live and in full’ on Saturday 17th November 2012.

Listeners were invited to upload photos under the general theme ‘day of light’. The best were showcased as part of an evolving, live accompaniment to the music.

All submissions appeared in real-time on an endless scrolling grid of images. Colours were sampled from each image, merging them slowly together to create a rich audio-visual experience.

Users were able to contribute images from anywhere, all major social networks and devices were supported. An additional video live stream was broadcast for partner and social media sites.

“The idea was to make a collaborative, generative work…to see what happened if you just made a space for it to happen in.”
